Good Evening:

Greetings from chilly but beautiful downtown Tokyo. I'm exhausted
from running around everyday since I got back from my short road
trip. So, I decided to take a couple of days and just stay home to
catch up on everything.

Anyone do anything special for Valentine's Day? My wife had a work
deadline which freed me up in the evening to see The Police with a
couple of friends. The seats were absolutely fantastic and it was
great hanging out with my buddy Nick again. I also got to see a few
of the crew who attended the blue grass gig under slightly less
drunken circumstances and make a couple new friends as well.

Good Day and Well Met Friends:

I hope everyone is enjoying the start of a brand new week. I've been
looking into purchasing a Blu Ray DVD recorder since my old DVD
recorder is on it's last legs and the format war has finally been
settled. Of course, I'm already running into problems.. I was
informed our virtually new 2 year old flat screen tv doesn't have the
right port. Luckily, it does have a port for a computer connection
which can be used.

I further learned that since Blu ray recorders only have two video
inputs, I need to change our digital cable box and I'm still figuring
out the best way to connect the region free DVD player. I REALLY do
love new toys to play with and home electronics are some of my very
faves, but does there always have to be compatibility issues?! I
mean, it's not much fun having to bring several owner's manuals to
the shop with me whenever I just want to add a new component to my
system.

Just think what a wonderful world it would be if every new gadget
just worked with the ones already in the system...ARGH!!

Happy April Folks:

It's the start of a brand new fiscal year and change is in the air! We got a few new channels on our cable tv system including a new movie channel, and the Disney Channel. I kinda like the very early Donald Duck cartoons but I don't quite understand the appeal of Hanna Montanna?

One of my favorite hobbies that I don't get to enjoy very often is poking around used book stores. Last week I was able to indulge for a few hours and picked up a biography of THE best and funniest British commedian ever, Benny Hill. I'm currently reading both a biography of John Lee Hooker and a book of interviews with famous dead people.

How's it going? All is well but just a bit quiet at the moment. I suppose it's never too early to start dreaming about the Summer concert season. Some of the shows I'm really hoping to catch include Black Crowes (LOVE the new CD), Pearl Jam (hoping for a new CD soon), Rush & Steely Dan, etc.

I was thinking of seeing Plant & Krauss too,however I must admit I found the CD a bit too slow and mellow for my taste. I've read many good reviews of their live shows but haven't had a chance to check em out yet. Don't know if I'll get the chance this time around...

Badgeholders Box Set Notes: Yes, the 26th show IS included. I'm terribly sorry for neglecting to mention it in my previous update. Yes, there was a press miss on the 3rd disk of the second show (6/22). I believe Empress Valley will be issuing a replacement disk. Please stay tuned for details.

I hope everyone is doing well. It's a bit early to be this humid, but it still beats the heck out of Winter.
Of course, it's only gonna get worse when rainy season rolls around next month. That's never much fun at all.

I finished the Benny Hill biography last night. It was a pretty good read and fairly evenhanded. I haven't decided if I'll be going back to the John Lee Hooker story that I didn't get all the way thru or maybe  something new? Any suggestions?

Hello World:

I was quite sad to hear that Bo Diddley passed away last week. A good
friend and I reminisced recently about going to see him a few years
back at the Blue Note. Truthfully, Bo was not in great shape at that
time and needed help getting to and from the stage. He did a fairly
short set which included a long rambling "joke" pretty much designed
to simply fill time. Despite all of this or perhaps because of it,
you could just feel the honesty & powerful soul in his music and
singing.

I consider it a priveledge and an absolute honor to have had the
chance to see him. I was also lucky enough over the years to see a
few other rock N roll pioneer heroes of mine including Chuck Berry,
James Brown, James Cotton, BB King, etc. There are a few more I'd
love to see especially Jerry Lee Lewis, but it's not always easy to
catch these guys anymore. I do hope I'll have a chance to see em
before it's too late...

Below is the long awaited and anticipated new CD Catalog! I'm
terribly sorry for all the usual delays and difficulties. It always
seems to take longer than expected to pry all the news, information
and wild rumours from the various suppliers.

The snail mail version will be heading off to the printer tomorrow or
Wed and should be ready to go out early next week. Please let me know
if you would like to receive the snail mail version or have recently
changed your address!

currently in stock unless otherwise noted. All titles are sold on a
first come, first served basis. Please note that some titles are
scarce and sell out extremely fast!! Please list alternate choices
with your order. This will help speed up the process when titles are
sold out.

Reserves: Due to the extremely large volume of orders, titles can
only be held for two weeks. We can NOT accept reserves for Ultra Rare
Japan Only Titles due to their scarcity.

Rare Titles/Want Lists: There are occasionally rare Japanese only
minor pressings released which are not listed in my catalogs. These
are generally very common shows on rather minor labels. Please feel
free to inquire about any Japanese Led Zeppelin CD titles. We also
always accept want lists for Led Zeppelin titles.

Sound Ratings: As a general rule, we don't provide sound ratings for
CD titles in this catalog as we feel that ratings are too subjective
and also due to the overwhelming quantities of titles released each

Postage Rates: $5 per title (CD and DVDs), $10 for each box set. Some
multiple disk sets are more expensive. EMS (Express Mail Service),
Registered Mail and insured postal services are also available.
Please inquire about rates for specific orders.

Missing Packages: Unfortunately, from time to time packages are lost
by the post office. This has happened less than a dozen times in the
15+ years We've been sending packages all over the world. We can not
be held responsible for lost packages sent without using
registered/Express Mail Service. Please inquire for official policies.

Refunds/Returns: We will not accept returns without authorization.
Please contact us before returning any disks. We can NOT accept
returns based on dissatisfaction with sound quality or specific
shows. When titles are sold out, a credit will be issued towards
another title on the list OR an immediate refund. Please specify
which option you prefer.

Hey Gang:

How's it going? It's always great to be home after a road trip. I had a fantastic time meeting old & new friends, catching REM, Pearl Jam, Steely Dan and The Black Crowes in some very historic venues, and just soaking up the atmosphere and of course all the food that is simply impossible to obtain.

I picked up reading and viewing material that should last me at least six months as well as a whole new wardrobe of T-shirts for about $12 (Goodwill stores rock!). I don't know if it's the onset of age, the humidity of Summer or some other factors, but I always seem to be even more tired and jet lagged upon arriving home.

Meanwhile, the Iphone is finally about to be released on this side of the world. I'm quite excited as it's supposed to be amazing and a lot of fun. The initial stock is sold out on pre orders but I reserved one a while back, so I should be OK. Can't wait!!

Hey Dudes:

How's it going? It was the hottest day of the year here today. We
were in triple digits (35C+) and with killer humidity, it wasn't much
fun being outside running around. August can be pretty darn brutal as
I'm sure you'll hear and see during wall to wall olympic coverage.

Ya know, you can learn the most amazing things when you have dinner
with people from other cultural backgrounds. I honestly can't
remember exactly how it came up but do you know what a Cockerel is?
No fair using Google or online resources. You have 30 seconds, and
